Gabe's Memorial Day Weekend

Gabe loved swimming in Papa Pat's pool, this past Memorial Day weekend! His favorite part was squirting everyone with water! He played in the water so much, his lips turned blue and he had to get out, but that didn't stop him from squirting some more! At one point he got really carried away and his shorts fell down (how embarrassing!)

Gabe Survives the Hurrinado

Gabe took the storm a little harder than Ayla. He talked about it alot to everyone who would listen, so that helped a bunch. One of the funner things about the clean-up after the storm was Gabe got to see a lot of heavy machinery and cool things like chainsaws and axes and linemen with hard hats! He really wanted to drive one of the big trucks! He was out most of one day with his little red wheelbarrow filling it up with leaves and twigs and doing his part to help out. He did not deal with it being so dark at night without power!

Gabe really is a cowboy!

At the southern IL sheep and wool festival, Gabe got to ride a mini stagecoach! Twice. He actually jumped in with some strange woman ( a mom) and rode out of sight. Then we paid for him and Ayla and cousin Sophie to take a ride- the second time around he wouldn't get out- saying "I'm really a cowboy!"

Haircut and a special message

Gabe got a snazzy new haircut! He did not stop talking the entire time we were at the barber shop and was a big hit. As chance (divine intervention? Much like a lot of things with Gabe's life.) would have it, an old man named Harold, who just turned 102, was getting his haircut in the very chair next to Gabe. The moment felt heavy with importance listening to Gabe chatter about this and that and the old man reminisce between labored breaths about his own first haircut almost a century before. I regret I was too self conscious to snap a photo of him.Speaking of old men... (hee hee). Happy Birthday Uncle Alex! We made a sign and everything!
